Ostrander Point

The Ostrander Point project is located on the south shore of Prince Edward County.
A 44 kV transmission line will be constructed from the project site to the provincial electricity grid at the Milford Distribution Station.  When developed, this wind farm has the potential of providing power for approximately 5,000 homes per year.

Gilead is working with community organizations and targets construction for Q3 2010.  There is one monitoring tower which has been collecting wind data since 2006 which will help determine final placement of the turbine layout.

Project Overview

Land base: 324 hectares on the Ostrander Point Crown Land Block southeast of the Town of Picton in the Ward of South Marysburgh, Prince Edward County.

Land ownership:  Crown Land

Potential wind farm size: 24 MW

Wind resource: Wind monitoring data indicates an above average wind resource.  Wind Resource Assessment completed by Helimax Energy Inc. provides excellent results for capacity, long term projections and potential electricity generation.

Progress to date:  Gilead has been offered a 24 MW Feed-In-Tariff  contract from the Ontario Power Authority under the new Green Energy Act.  Commercial operation slated for Q4 2011.

Transmission options: Interconnection Study in progress for Ontario Grid on a 44 kV Transmission Line.
