Ostrander Point

Gilead Power received its Renewable Energy Approval (REA) for the Ostrander Point Wind Energy Park on December 20, 2012.  The REA can be accessed here. The application for the REA was submitted on May 16, 2011 and can be accessed here.

The Ostrander Point Wind Energy Park is located entirely on Crown land on the south shore of Prince Edward County.  The components of the project include nine 2.5 megawatt wind turbine generators with a total installed nameplate capacity of 22.5 megawatts, access road, one transformer substation and underground electrical collector system.  When constructed, the Ostrander Point Wind Energy Park will occupy less than 2 percent of the 324 hectare Ostrander Point Crown Land Block.  A 44 kV transmission line will be designed and constructed by Hydro One Networks Inc. from the project site to the provincial electricity grid in the vicinity of the Milford Distribution Station.  When developed, this wind farm has the potential of providing power for approximately 5,600 homes per year.
